About My Town

My hometown, Ibi, is located in the central part of Japan, in Gifu Prefecture. About 90% of the area is covered in forest, making it rich in natural beauty.
When you hear the words “rural town,” you might imagine a small, compact village. But Ibi is not small — the town stretches deep into the mountains and covers a vast area. A few decades ago, the central town merged with the surrounding villages, forming the current town. However, despite its size, the population is now less than 20,000.
It is a quiet and peaceful place, surrounded by mountains. Tea fields line the base of the hills, and rice paddies spread across the open land.
